Notion and Instagram

How to stop copying captions from Notion into Instagram

The copying stops when the post goes out from the row the caption is written in. Ninecast reads your Notion content database and publishes each row on its date — caption, images or video, to Instagram and every other platform you connect — so nothing is pasted anywhere, and the caption you fixed last is the one your followers see.

Why the copying never really stops

Most fixes move the copying rather than remove it. A scheduler such as Later or Metricool means pasting the caption into the scheduler instead of into Instagram. Meta Business Suite is the same. Make or Zapier copies it for you until the automation breaks. Each one leaves a second copy of every caption, and the second copy is the one that goes out.

A caption copied once is a caption that can be out of date.

Posting straight from the Notion row

  1. Start free at getninecast.com/start and embed the planner link in your Notion page with /embed.
  2. Click Connect your Notion and confirm which column holds the caption, the date and the media.
  3. Connect Instagram, and any other accounts, from Connect social accounts.
  4. Turn on Auto-post. From then on a row with a date publishes itself.

A live Instagram grid of your rows sits in the same page, so you also stop screenshotting the feed to see how it looks. The full walkthrough is in scheduling Instagram posts from Notion.

Questions that follow

How do I stop copying and pasting captions from Notion into Instagram?

Post from Notion instead of copying out of it. Ninecast reads your Notion content database and publishes each row on its date with the row’s own caption and images, to Instagram and every other platform you connect. There is nothing to paste, and the caption you edited last is the one that goes out.

Does a scheduler like Later or Metricool stop the copying?

Not from Notion. They schedule posts well, but they do not read your Notion database, so the caption is still copied from Notion into their calendar once, and again every time you change it.

Can Make or Zapier do it?

They can move a caption from a Notion row to a scheduler or to Instagram, but you build and maintain the automation, and it breaks when a property is renamed or a file link expires. Ninecast does that job without an automation.

What happens if I change the caption after scheduling?

Change it in Notion. The post reads the row when it goes out, so the latest caption is the one that publishes. There is no second copy to update.

Will it catch a caption Instagram would reject?

Yes. Captions over 2,200 characters, more than 30 hashtags and similar refusals are flagged on the post before it is due, not when it fails.

How much does it cost?

The grid preview is free, forever. Publishing is on Creator, $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, for 3 planners — and the free plan includes 2 posts so you can see it work first.
