Method 1: a tracker you fill in by hand
- Add number columns to your content database: Likes, Comments, Shares, Saves, Reach and Views, plus a URL column for the post link.
- Copy the numbers in from each post’s View insights in Instagram, at the same point every time, such as seven days after posting.
- Add an engagement formula: interactions divided by reach, as in the question below.
- Make views: top posts sorted by reach, a monthly filter, and a board grouped by format.
It is free and it works. It is also an evening a month of copying numbers, and the row that planned a post and the row that measures it drift apart.
Method 2: let the numbers write themselves
With Ninecast, the row that planned a post is the row that posts it and the row that records how it did:
- Each night, likes, comments, shares, saves, reach and views are written into the post’s row, for the two weeks after it goes out. The Refresh button fetches them on demand.
- Only the columns you choose are written, and a number Instagram has not reported yet is left empty rather than written as 0.
- The post link is written back too, for every platform.
The best analytics dashboard for a Notion content calendar is the calendar.
The free Ninecast content calendar template has these columns ready. More on the reporting side is in a Notion content calendar with analytics, and the AI content calendar workflow shows how to plan next month from these numbers.
Questions that follow
How do I track my Instagram post analytics inside Notion?
Give each post a row in a Notion database with number columns for likes, comments, shares, saves, reach and views. You can fill them in by hand from Instagram Insights, or let Ninecast fill them in: it publishes the row to Instagram and then writes those numbers back into the same row every night.
Can Notion pull Instagram analytics automatically?
Not by itself. Pasting a post link into Notion fetches nothing. Ninecast reads the numbers from Instagram for posts it published and writes them into the columns you choose, every night and whenever you press Refresh.
Which Instagram metrics can go into Notion?
Likes, comments, shares, saves, reach and views, for each post, for the 14 days after it goes out, when most of a post’s numbers arrive.
What is a good engagement-rate formula in Notion?
Interactions divided by reach: (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ reach × 100. In a Notion formula, use if(prop("Reach") > 0, round((prop("Likes") + prop("Comments") + prop("Shares") + prop("Saves")) / prop("Reach") * 10000) / 100, 0).
Does it work for TikTok, Pinterest and LinkedIn?
Those posts get their link written back into the row. The engagement numbers are Instagram only for now.
How much does it cost?
The grid preview is free, forever. Publishing is on Creator, $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, for 3 planners — and the free plan includes 2 posts so you can see it work first.
