Why Reels usually leave Notion
A Reel is planned in Notion and posted somewhere else: exported, uploaded to a scheduler such as Metricool or Buffer, the caption pasted in again, the time set again. With a publisher that reads the database, the row is the schedule.
Plan the Reel in Notion. Post it from Notion. Read how it did in Notion.
Setting it up
- Start free at getninecast.com/start and embed the planner link in your Notion page with /embed.
- Click Connect your Notion and confirm which column is the date, the caption and the media.
- Connect Instagram from Connect social accounts.
- Put one video in the row’s media, add the caption and a date and time, then turn on Auto-post.
The video is copied to our storage first, because Notion’s file links expire after about an hour and Instagram fetches the video from a link.
What a Reel row needs
- One video in the media column. Several images make a carousel instead.
- A caption, up to Instagram’s 2,200 characters and 30 hashtags, checked before the post is due.
- A date and time, in your planner’s timezone.
- Post type (optional): set Trial reel for a trial.
Feed posts and carousels work the same way; see scheduling Instagram posts from Notion. For TikTok, see auto-posting to TikTok from Notion.
Questions that follow
How do I schedule Instagram Reels from Notion?
Add Ninecast to the Notion page that holds your content database, connect Instagram, and give each Reel’s row a video and a date. A row with one video posts as a Reel at its scheduled time, with the caption from the row, and its link is written back.
Can I schedule trial Reels from Notion?
Yes. Set the row’s Post type to Trial reel. Instagram shows it to non-followers first, and a planner setting decides whether Instagram shares it with your followers automatically when it does well, or leaves that to you.
Can the same video post to TikTok?
Yes. Connect TikTok as well and the row goes to both, unless a Platforms column says otherwise. TikTok asks for its own settings on each post, which you choose once on the post card.
What Instagram account do I need?
A professional account, Business or Creator. Instagram only allows publishing tools on those, and switching takes a minute in Instagram’s settings.
Does it work from Airtable too?
Yes. Ninecast reads an Airtable base the same way, so a video attachment on a record posts as a Reel on its date.
How much does it cost?
The grid preview is free, forever. Publishing is on Creator, $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, for 3 planners — and the free plan includes 2 posts so you can see it work first.
