Why Notion needs a publisher for TikTok
Notion is a good place to plan TikToks: the hook, the script, the caption, the file and the date in one row. It cannot post them. The usual workaround is an automation in Make or Zapier that calls TikTok’s API, and many of those only upload a draft you still finish by hand in the app.
A TikTok you have to finish in the app at 7pm is not scheduled. It is a reminder.
Setting it up, step by step
- Start free at getninecast.com/start. You get a planner link.
- In your Notion page, type /embed, paste the link and click Embed link.
- Click Connect your Notion, tick the page your content database is on and click Allow access. Confirm which column is the title, the date, the media and the caption.
- Connect TikTok from Connect social accounts in the planner’s settings.
- Choose each post’s TikTok settings on its card, or set one and press Use for all upcoming TikTok posts.
- Give the row a date. When it arrives, the post goes out and its link is written back into the row.
What a TikTok row needs
- One video, or up to 35 images for a photo post. Photos should be JPEG or WebP.
- A caption, up to 2,200 characters on a video and 4,000 on a photo post.
- A date, with a time if you want one. A date alone posts at your default time in your own timezone.
- Its TikTok settings, chosen once on the card. A post without them waits rather than going out with guesses.
Files are copied to our own storage before anything is posted, because the links Notion gives out for files expire after about an hour.
The rest of your calendar
The same rows can go to every platform you connect: Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn are covered on their own pages, and posting to every platform from one Notion database shows how one row reaches all of them.
Questions that follow
Can I auto-post to TikTok from Notion?
Yes. Notion cannot publish anywhere by itself, so you add a publisher that reads your database. Ninecast connects to Notion and to TikTok directly: each row posts on its date, as a video or a photo carousel, with the caption from the row.
Does it post publicly, or only upload a draft?
It publishes straight to your profile with the audience you choose for that post: Everyone, Friends, Followers or Only you. There is no draft left to finish in the TikTok app.
Do I need Zapier or Make?
No. There is no automation to build or maintain. You paste one Ninecast link into your Notion page, connect your database and your TikTok account inside it, and give rows a date.
Can I post TikTok photo carousels from Notion?
Yes. A row with up to 35 images posts as a TikTok photo post. Photos larger than 1080 × 1920 are shrunk to fit before sending, because TikTok refuses bigger ones. An Allow TikTok Sound column decides whether TikTok adds a song to a photo post.
What TikTok settings does each post need?
TikTok asks for them on every post, so the post card does too: who can see it, whether comments are allowed (and duets and stitches for videos), and whether it promotes a brand. Nothing is preset. Once one post is set, one press copies its audience and allow settings to all your upcoming TikTok posts.
Does the same row post to Instagram too?
It can. A Platforms column decides where each row goes, and an empty one sends it to every account you have connected, so one Notion calendar feeds every platform you connect.
How much does it cost?
The grid preview is free, forever. Publishing is on Creator, $15 a month or $12 a month billed yearly, for 3 planners — and the free plan includes 2 posts so you can see it work first.
